When Might Private Pay Be a Good Option?

Private pay can be an excellent choice for families who are looking for flexibility, personalized care, and timely access to services. While insurance-funded services are a wonderful option for many families, private pay may be a better fit if you:

  • Want to begin services without waiting for insurance authorization or credentialing.

  • Prefer greater flexibility in the frequency, duration, or focus of services.

  • Are seeking consultation, parent coaching, school collaboration, or other services that may not be covered by insurance.

  • Do not wish to use insurance or share treatment information with a third-party payer.

  • Have a high deductible or limited insurance benefits that make private pay a more practical option.

  • Are looking for short-term, targeted support rather than comprehensive ABA services.

  • Desire individualized services that are tailored to your family's unique goals without insurance limitations.

At The Mustard Seed Behavioral Health, we are committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care regardless of how services are funded. During your complimentary consultation, we'll help you determine whether private pay or insurance-funded services are the best fit for your family's needs.

Private Pay vs. Insurance: What's the Difference?

Choosing between private pay and insurance-funded services depends on your family's goals, timeline, and individual circumstances. Both options can provide high-quality ABA services, but there are some important differences to consider.

Not Sure Which Option Is Right for You?

We're happy to help. During your complimentary 30-minute consultation, we'll discuss your child's needs, answer your questions, review available funding options, and help you determine whether private pay or insurance-funded services are the best fit for your family.

Our goal is to make the process as simple, transparent, and supportive as possible so you can focus on what matters most—helping your child learn, grow, and thrive.

Important Information

The private pay rates listed on this page apply to private pay services only and are provided to promote transparency and help families make informed decisions. Insurance-funded services are billed according to your individual insurance plan, and reimbursement, deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, authorization requirements, and covered services may vary depending on your specific benefits.

The frequency, duration, and type of services recommended for each client are determined through a comprehensive assessment, clinical judgment, and each individual's unique strengths, needs, and treatment goals. While we offer monthly private pay service packages to help simplify budgeting for families, these packages are not intended to replace individualized clinical recommendations. All service recommendations are based on clinical need.

Private pay rates are subject to change without notice. Current clients will be notified in advance of any fee changes that may affect their ongoing services.

The Mustard Seed Behavioral Health is committed to providing compassionate, individualized, evidence-based care. Although we strive to help every client make meaningful progress, specific outcomes cannot be guaranteed, as progress varies based on many individual factors.
